Stink bugs held outside the siding before they overwinter
Brown shield-shaped bugs clustered on the sunny wall in October. Resolve treats the exterior so the swarm stays out of the walls for the winter.
Chapter 01
Shield-shaped bugs on the sunny wall every October
Brown marmorated stink bugs follow a predictable calendar. In early fall they gather on the warm, sunny side of a house, usually the south or west face, crawling over siding, window frames and door casings, looking for somewhere to spend the winter. A dozen on a screen on Monday can be a hundred by Friday.
They do not breed indoors or damage framing, but they do something just as annoying. Crushed or startled, they release their odor, and on a warm day in January the ones tucked into a wall void wake up and wander into the living room. Lakewood and Manalapan callers describe it as a slow leak that never quite stops.
Light colors and sun-warmed surfaces draw them, so white or tan siding on a south wall is the classic target. Attic windows, chimney flashing and the gap beneath a loose fascia board are the openings that lead them inside, usually in the last two weeks of the season. The sunny, southern wall draws them first, so the technician starts there.

Sealing the gaps and treating the face they gather on
The visit is an exterior walk. The technician checks the sunny elevations, window and door trim, utility penetrations, vents, the soffit and any place daylight shows through a gap, because stink bugs enter wherever light does. Where the openings are small, the plan says what to close and in what order. It is a short list, and each item is marked on the plan so a handyman can finish the job.
Treatment goes onto the exterior surfaces where the bugs land and crawl, timed to the fall movement rather than after the swarm is already inside. Treatments stay family and pet-conscious, and Resolve explains where it has applied them so the screens and door thresholds are not a surprise to anyone. Timing is the difference, since a treatment made in September meets the first arrivals, not the last.
Inside the house, the advice is simple: vacuum any that get in rather than crushing them, and empty the bag outside. The goal of the visit is to make that vacuuming a short, boring chore instead of an all-winter project, and to keep the wall voids empty. The visit ends with a quick tour of the vulnerable spots, so you know where to look next year.
Chapter 03
When the January stragglers show up, and what to do about them
Even a good fall defense leaves a few. If bugs do emerge from the walls in winter, vacuum them rather than swatting, and call if numbers climb. A stink bug sighting in February tells the technician exactly which wall they chose, and that helps next September. Their smell is a defense, not a sign of dirt, so the cleanup is only a vacuum and a quiet afternoon.
The 100% satisfaction guarantee applies here as everywhere: if you are not satisfied, Resolve returns and retreats your home at no additional cost. That includes the odd winter flare-up that follows a mild week, when warmth wakes the ones tucked behind the trim. A warm spell in a Jersey winter often sends a few wandering out of the trim, and a call is how the retreat gets scheduled.
Wall Township and Tinton Falls owners often schedule the exterior visit in late September, before the first cold snap, and some add it to a seasonal protection plan. Call (732) 527-5770. Resolve is licensed and insured, NJ LIC# 91689B. The office is open around the clock, but early fall is the season when it fills, so booking a fall visit ahead of the first cold night is wise, and the crew is pleased to help.
